How to use the Database
You may search at Basic and/or Advanced levels. The Basic Search enables you to
search under four headings:
- Funding Type - what are you seeking funding for: scholarships, salaries, conferences,
publications, etc?
- Beneficial Region/Country - in which regions or countries will your project be located?
- Area of Interest - the subject areas of research or teaching.
- Funder Name - if you think you already know the funder, type in all or part of the
name.
NB: as many funders do not specify, for example, a particular European country or
subject area within Jewish Studies, it is advisable in many cases to try also general
regions such as "Europe" and "All".
The Advanced Search facility allows you to search under any field and combination
of fields. To give you just one example, the Advanced Search would enable you to
search for funders whose annual grant size is greater than EUR 1,000 and whose areas
of interest include Jewish history.
A search will bring up a list of funders; you can then click on each to find out
further detail about their areas of interest, eligibility criteria, size of grants,
other grants they have awarded, and application guidelines. Where available, contact
information (website, correspondent, telephone number, etc) is supplied for each
funder to encourage you to find out more about them before you make any application.
